Hello Families,
Last week the students in third and fourth grade worked on
place value. Third graders added two-digit numbers and fourth graders added
three-digit numbers.
In Science we started our unit on interdependence. We will
take a trip over to the recreation field to pick a micro-habitat to observe. We
will visit our site throughout the school year to observe changes. Send your
child to school with sneakers on Thursday for our field trip to the rec. field.
Students will also choose a micro-habitat at home. The homework will be coming
home on Tuesday and will be due on September 25th. The students will
have two weeks to complete their observation of their home mini-habitat.
The students began rotating to Ms. Motta for social studies. In social studies, students began looking at physical,
political and topographical maps.
This week we will break into our spelling groups. Ask your child
who he/she has for spelling. Spelling is 20 minutes each day and is a part of
our daily literacy program. Reading workshop and writing workshop are also our
daily routine. On Tuesdays, the students will have Enrichment with Ms. Askran.
She has been a literacy teacher and is currently working on the theme - country
versus city.
