Monday News

Dear Families,

The students are studying life cycles in Science. I am looking for a donation of fertilized chicken eggs to hatch in the incubator in the classroom for all the 3/4 students to observe. I generally look for a dozen eggs and can give the chicks back when hatched or add to my own flock. Please spread the word that we are looking.

Since the incubation time is around 31 days, we would need to start when we return from April break (around May 1st).

On Thursday, the students will go to the State House in Montpelier.  Please return the permission slips for Boston and the State House as soon as possible. We do not need a chaperone for the Montpelier trip, but would welcome one adult if you would like to join us. Please contact me if you would like to chaperone on Thursday.

Ask your child about their science experiment on Matter. They have a testable question and have only one independent variable.

Enjoy your week,

Mrs. Carter

Monday News

Dear Families,

The March book project was sent home last week. The students can fill a bag with items about themselves, pretending to be the main character in their book. All items will be sent home the same day the student brings it to school. The students will each be able to share their "All About Me" bag with the class.

Report cards will go home on Wednesday and there is a 6 pm meeting for 4th grade parents on Thursday at BPMS. Please remember that Friday is a half day for students.

There will not be a science fair this year since we are going to Boston. We are going to do the science fair every other year. However, our class will do science experiments during our outdoor day for our matter unit.

Please remember to have your child read every night.

Enjoy your week,
Anna

Weekly News

Dear Families,

March is a big time of the year for students. The students know the routines and are ready to dig deep into their learning. In reading, our read aloud book is The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo. The heart of any story is the character. We will practice reading intensely to grow ideas about characters. In writing, the students will be writing literary essays. Third graders will start a unit on fractions.

The puppet book projects are due on Friday. The April book project directions will go home on Wednesday.

Fourth grade families will receive a letter at the end of the week with dates about the transition to middle school.

Our class leads all school morning meeting on Friday.

An email with conference times was sent over vacation. Please let me know if you do not know your conference time or need to change it.

March 17th is a half day for parent/teacher conferences.

Enjoy your week,
Mrs. Carter
