Monday News

Dear Families,

Tomorrow (Tuesday), we will ski at Sleepy Hollow in Huntington in the morning. This will be our last day of cross-country skiing. The conditions should be amazing!

This week is I Love to Read and Write Week. Each student will get to take a book home on Tuesday. We will also exchange valentines Tuesday afternoon.

The class earned a celebration for positive behavior. Students may wear pajamas or comfy clothes and bring a small blanket on Wednesday. We'll find cozy spots in the classroom to read by the "fire".

The guest author, Geof Hewitt will teach a workshop to the students on Thursday. There will be a poetry slam for students Thursday afternoon.

The students will finish their informational books this week and we will read our books to the kindergartners Friday morning for a publishing party.

Enjoy the snow day!

Monday News

Dear Families,

We were finally able to ski last week. The students had a great time.

I will be in the building on Monday, but not in the classroom. The 3/4 teachers will be meeting about math all day. Ms. Crawford will be the guest teacher.

The students' information books are almost done. They have been trying different structures for their chapters and adding a variety of text features to their writing. The students each focused on an animal to write about and to learn the craft of information writing. The students will be choosing  a person, place or event in Vermont that played a significant role in Vermont's history and writing an information book on their topic.

Enjoy your week,
Mrs. Carter
