SBAC news

Dear Families,

I hope you are enjoying the spring weather.

Before break, your child should have brought home an orange letter explaining the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) testing.
On Monday, April 25th, the ¾ teachers will allot two 30 minute times during class to go through the Math and ELA Classroom Activities (Performance Task prep).
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the tests will be administered from 8-11:00 am. Thursday morning students will be allowed to continue if they need extra time or missed school on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Your child can bring gum or hard candy if they would like during testing. Also, having one’s own earbuds or earphones will be important.

Due to the testing, there will be no assigned homework this week. Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep before testing days.

Thank you for your home support!

Anna

Dear Families,

On February 3, 2016, 175,000 students across the world participated in Global Play Day. Here at BPMS we are celebrating Global Play Day this week on Thursday, 4/14/16Global School Play Day is for public schools, private schools, and home school families and is designed to spread the word about the benefits of unstructured play. Together we can reverse the downward trend in childhood play that many nations have experienced since the 1950's.

The students will not have homework this week. They earned a celebration for positive behavior and chose not to have homework for the week of April 4th for their celebration.

We are still in need of rinsed out 1/2 gallon cardboard juice/soymilk, etc. containers for the building of a prairie schooner for the Westward Expansion unit. Thank you!

The Science Fair Showcase will be on Wednesday. Parents are invited to view the projects from 7:25 – 9 am. Students will spend the morning showcasing their experiments to the rest of the school.

On Thursday, John Steven Gurney, our visiting author will teach the students about illustrating books. You can read more about Mr. Gurney at
