Monday News

Dear Families,

On Thursday, the 4th graders will head to MMU for a track meet with all the 4th graders in the district. This will be an all day event. I will be going with the 4th graders and Ms. Motta and Ms. Aitken will stay with the 3rd graders. Friday is fourth graders Move Up Day at CHMS. The fourth graders will go directly to CHMS and will not go to BPMS that day. 

Global School Play Day will be on Wednesday, June 7th. A letter will go home tomorrow with more information. Monday, June 19th will be Step-Up day for the third graders. The third graders will meet the second graders in their class at this time.

The last book projects are due the week of June 5th-9th. Your child may bring in their book project food any day that week. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Monday News

Dear Families,

The students will continue to write their newspaper articles. We are discovering that there is newsworthy things happening everyday. In fact, the chicken eggs are due to hatch on Tuesday and it will definitely be news! We candled the eggs and saw chicks growing inside.

Important events:

  • Wednesday, June 14th, Sandy’s BBQ 11:00-12:00
  • Friday, June 16th, class placement letters go home, Monday, June 19th Step-Up day,
8:00-8:30 a.m.
  • Monday, June 19th, Fourth Grade recognition at 6:00 pm
  • Tuesday, June 20th, Wicked Fun Day! Last Day of school.

In science, students are learning:

  • What is energy?
  • How is energy transferred between objects or systems?
  • How are forces related to energy?

Monday News

Dear Families,

Fourth graders will take science NECAPS on Wednesday and Friday from 8-9:30. 

In science, we will explore how energy can be stored as height. We will investigate how hills give roller coasters energy by experimenting with a model “bumper coaster.” Last week, we made ice cream as part of our matter unit. 

We will continue to read biographies and write news stories. The students will publish their news reports in a classroom newspaper.

Monday News

Dear Families,

There are lots of fun things happening this week. 
  • We will start our week with yoga with Maggie Mae. 
  • The students are eagerly watching the eggs in the incubator.
  • We will continue to work on journalism in writing and reading biographies in reading workshop. 
  • We'll race our wind-up toys we made during science. We are learning about stored energy.
  • We will have our Matter Unit celebration on Thursday and make a sweet surprise!
  • Friday we lead all school morning meeting.
