Classroom News

Dear Families,

Last week was I Love to Read and Write Week. John Alberghini, our superintendent and Steve Madden, the Camels Hump Middle School librarian read to the students. There was a staff skit on Monday and a whole-school reading celebration on Friday.

The second trimester ends on Friday. We will be assessing students all week. Please let me know if your child will miss any school this week.

The Sleepy Hollow field trips will be this Friday, 2/21 and the Friday after break, 3/6.

The students will finish their opinion writing pieces this week and we will have a writing celebration in class. They will also finish their historical fiction book club book.

Have a great week,
Mrs. Carter

Classroom News

Dear Families,

Book projects are due Monday.

Barb Aitken and I will be in Richmond on Tuesday for professional development. Mrs. Roll will be my guest teacher.

Wednesday is Global School Play Day. Brewster Pierce will join schools around the world, as they play for the day! No screens, no structure, all day long! If you want to learn more about Global School Play Day, please click hereLet's spread the word about the benefits of unstructured play. Together we can reverse the downward trend in childhood play that many nations have experienced since the 1950's. I also want to encourage you to continue playing on Wednesday when your child comes home from school. Try to spend the night without electronics. Cook together, play a board game, do a puzzle, read a book, draw, spend time outside.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
