Classroom News

Dear Families,

The students earned a celebration for positive behavior. They voted on "nap time". For 30 minutes, students will be able to have quiet music and find a cozy area in the room to read, draw, write, or rest. Students may bring in a blanket and pillow if they would like to have something comfortable to lay with during this time.

During Writing, the students will make Flip Grids, short videos, to introduce themselves to their Underhill pen pals.

We are working on graphing in Math.

In Reading, we are making posters with our book clubs to encourage others to read.

In Science, we are learning that although humans cannot stop natural hazards, we can take steps to reduce the risks from extreme weather. Students are on "engineering teams" and their job is to build and test a model of a roof on a house and make a claim about the merit of a roof material and its ability to reduce the impact of a storm. Students will "buy" materials, without going over budget, and will test their design this week.

Enjoy your week,
Mrs. Carter
