Classroom News

Dear Families,

This week we will go to the Flynn Theater on Monday to see The Phantom Tollbooth. Click here if you would like to learn more about the performance.

There is a late start this Wednesday.

We will start our cross-country ski program on Thursday. The weather looks like it will cooperate to allow for us to get outside and start skiing!

Our next writing and reading unit will be adapting and writing fairy tales. Fairy tales allow us to emphasize a clear event sequence that unfolds naturally, and the use of dialogue and description to develop the events, the language that signals event order. For example, as children read and think about phrases such as ¨Once upon a time,¨ ¨Later at Grandma's house,¨ and ¨Just then, along came a wolf,¨ fairy tales are perfect for teaching transitional phrases to glue scenes of their stories together. Our read-aloud for this unit will be The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer.

Enjoy your week,
Mrs. Carter
