First Day of School

Dear Families,

Happy New (School) Year! The first couple weeks of school are very important. This is when we begin establishing our classroom community; emphasizing academic, social and emotional growth for ALL students. A safe and joyful classroom will help children to thrive. We will be establishing routines and creating classroom expectations. This will ensure a smooth school year.

The weather forecast looks great on Thursday, so we’ll be outside for part of the day. Comfortable clothes and sneakers will be important. Sunscreen is recommended. Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering for one or more Thursdays this school year. I understand that this does not work for everyone’s schedules and I don’t want anyone to feel pressured.

We have a few new staff at BPMS. Natasha Horak (Ms. H) started last year at BPMS. She will be in our classroom this year assisting students during academic times. Mr. Baker is our new P.E. teacher. Ms. Bourque-Johnson is our new librarian.

Your child will be bringing home paperwork to be filled out and returned as soon as possible. Homework has not started yet. I will let you know when we are ready to start homework. For now, students need a good night sleep and should be reading every night. Remember that this can include a parent or family member reading out loud to the child.

Please read the previous blog post, if you haven't already.

Enjoy your week,
Anna
