Dear Families,
Two weeks until Thanksgiving vacation and we have a lot to
pack in!
Science – Our
geology unit has two parts. We will
finish up erosion, weathering, deposition and stream tables. We will
learn about rocks and minerals after Thanksgiving break.
Word Study – Some
of the spelling groups are learning the 1-1-1 doubling up rule in spelling. A
word with 1 syllable, 1 vowel, and 1 final consonant gets a doubled ending consonant
when adding a suffix.
Writing – We are
working on opinion writing. We are using OREO to help us remember how to write
a persuasive essay paragraph.
O-opinion, R-reason, E-evidence, O-restate opinion
Math – Third graders
have started a data unit.
Reading – I will
be progress monitoring students this week to get an accurate reading level and
to make sure students are making progress.
Homework is sent home on Mondays and should be finished by
Friday.
Don’t forget-Scholastic Book Fair is the week of November 16th!
Enjoy your week,
Mrs. Carter
